The Fefiñanes estate lies in the heart of Val do Salnés, where sea breezes and granitic soils shape wines of clarity and precision. Fermentation is entirely in stainless steel to retain Albariño’s aromatic purity and electric freshness. Expect aromas of citrus blossom, green pear, quince and crushed stone. The palate is sleek and vibrant, with saline edges, ripe acidity and a long, mineral finish that speaks of the Atlantic. A classic pairing with seafood, clams or padron peppers. The Producer
This is the oldest Albariño producer whose small, modern winery was custom-sized to fit into the ancient granite cloisters of this grand old Renaissance palace that dominates the central square of Cambados - capital of the Salnés Valley - and is still in the hands of the original family. Fronted by the charming Juan Gil – aka the Marqués de Figueroa - urbane yachtsman and aristocrat, Palacio de Fefinañes was the first ever producer to bottle Albariño, in 1928, and given its finesse and delicacy it is regarded by many as a benchmark. The fruit comes from local growers, 66 families in total, who consistently produce some of the best grapes in the region.
The young wine is hallmark Albariño from Cambados with white floral notes, intense salinity and marked acidity. The 1583 is a structured wine with good acidity and typical stone fruit. Part fermented in barrel and then spending a few months in French oak, this is a wine deserving of a serious meal. Finally, the III Año is a single, select tank made from grapes pre-selected in the vineyards and left on its lees for around a year resulting in a grippier and more substantial wine with delicious mandarin and lime like qualities.
