Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie DOC

Veneto, Italy

Sourced from high-altitude vineyards cooled by alpine breezes, this Pinot Grigio offers a fresh, vibrant take on one of Italy’s most recognisable whites. Natale Verga selects grapes from across the Venezie region, fermenting in stainless steel at low temperatures to preserve delicate aromatics. The wine is unoaked and focused on crisp fruit, with bright acidity and a clean, mineral finish. Notes of green apple, pear and white blossom introduce a palate that is both refreshing and finely textured. A touch of citrus zest adds lift and vibrancy, making it an ideal aperitivo or food-friendly white. Serve with shellfish, grilled vegetables or light pastas.

The Producer

Verga have been involved into the wine world since 1895, when Natale’s grandfather Enrico Verga started a new project with the aim of developing the very highest quality wines by selecting and blending the best juice on the market.  Along with sisters Cristina and Laura, Natale fronts this ever-expanding operation.  It is no mean feat to create such consistently delicious wines at this scale:  the winery measures some 35,000 m2!

The Natale Verga range is the pinnacle of their production and yet still offers exceptional value.  We don’t have many ‘negociants’ on our list but this Pinot Grigio does exactly what it says on the tin – it’s a fab, entry-level example at a price that the market demands.  Its delicate and fresh, with notes of citrus and green pear, and a savoury, nutty texture.
