Having already received the award for ‘Top White Wine in Italy’ at the Drinks Business Masters for their Soave ‘Vigneti di Foscarino’, Stefano and the team have now shown why Carmenere reigns supreme in the Colli Berici. The Carminium 2019 has picked up another ‘Masters’ medal, this time in the Carmenere category, which may surprise the Chileans but certainly not us.
Carmenere has grown for well over a century in the Colli Berici. Despite being only a few kilometres away from Soave, the annual rainfall here is half that of its neighbour and the soil is completely different: iron-rich clay v basalt in Soave. Warmer temperatures combined with the more fertile soil create the perfect environment to craft elegant Carmenere with notes of cocoa, liquorice and soy. We are delighted for Inama, an estate with whom we have worked from the very beginning, almost 30 years ago. Bravo!
